There are two types of page headers on ClarkU’s website: the standard red treatment, and an additional graphical landing page treatment.
Standard headers
The standard ClarkU header is a red color field with a title on it, and it may also include a navigation block. It is used for departments, offices, centers, and subpages, and it’s what you see at the top of this page. When in doubt, use this header treatment.
Landing page headers
Landing page headers should be used sparingly, but they offer more variety. They use a graphical hero that has an overlaid red color field in the “notch” style that contains the title of the page, and optionally a navigation block.
A landing page header uses an image or background video for graphic that grabs the visitor’s attention and inspires them to explore more deeply. Landing page headers are appropriate for schools, top-level website sections, and pages that are likely to be “first impression” landing pages that receive traffic from an advertising campaign or similar.
Example landing pages include: the clarku.edu homepage, Admitted Students, and The School of Business.
The ClarkU header
Every page includes the main Clark University seal, search, and navigation. It appears as an overlay to whatever an individual page’s header might be. The ClarkU header serves to show the affiliation of every page with Clark University.
