Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media
The most in-demand game school graduates are those with demonstrable evidence of their skill sets — that is, examples of art, programming, or design —all part of a published game. Working with your faculty adviser, or industry mentor, your four semesters of graduate courses and studio-based curricular experiences will be a creative discovery process that culminates in professional portfolio of work.
MFA students to work alongside undergraduate students in the Game Studio course — the centerpiece of the Becker School of Design & Technology curriculum.
MFA students take on the role of team lead or producer for this course and manage a team of undergraduate students to complete an interactive media project; which may include serious games, simulations, artistic installations, entertainment, or new technological exploration.
The course will provide a hands-on development environment for a formal interactive title to be released. Students will gain experience working as a team lead of a game studio team with various departments, skill-levels, development infrastructures, and real-world demands. Students are required to take this course twice, the first and second semesters of their MFA degree.
You will:
- Collaborate with other talented and experienced artists, designers, and developers and establish valuable networking relationships with industry professionals.
- Create publishable interactive media properties and take on the role of creative lead for an interactive media project within Clark’s studio-based courses.
- Strengthen your existing skill sets to advance in a current interactive media position, or switch to the interactive media field from a related area.
- Complete a thesis project that demonstrates your understanding of both the technical and aesthetic perspectives of your chosen area of study within the context of the interactive media/video game medium.
