Theatre Arts graduates apply their skills in a wide range of career paths. The skills developed in the program:

• collaboration,
• script analysis,
• design thinking,
• project management,
• public communication,
• and the ability to work under pressure toward a deadline

are all genuinely transferable, and Clark alumni have demonstrated that across a remarkable range of careers.

Theatre Arts majors work as actors, directors, playwrights, theatrical designers, technical directors, stage managers, arts educators, filmmakers, project managers, and arts administrators. Some pursue the performing arts directly; others find that their theatre training is the foundation for careers in adjacent and unexpected fields.

Where graduates work

Alumni have gone on to roles including:

• Founders and artistic directors of Company One Theatre in Boston and Custom Made Theatre Company in San Francisco
• Host of a major network television program
• Freelance director and marketing associate at Primary Stages Theater, New York
• Archivist at the Library of Congress
• Arts educator at independent schools in New York

Graduate study

Theatre Arts graduates have pursued advanced degrees at Tulane, Purdue, Northwestern, Hofstra, Long Island University, Carnegie Mellon, and other programs in performance, design, directing, and dramaturgy.

The Clark 4+1 Accelerated Master’s Degree

Theatre Arts students can pursue Clark’s Accelerated 4+1 Master’s Degree, adding credentials in a fifth year in areas such as teaching, communications, education, or business.
