Business program earns national award

The Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC) – a leadership organization for university entrepreneurship programs – has recognized the Clark University School of Business’s  Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (E & I) as one of the premier university-based programs in the country.

In total, only 20 entrepreneurship centers or programs were honored by the GCEC this year as being among the best in university entrepreneurship. Across 10 categories, there were more than 65 nominees, with Clark’s E & I program winning for “Outstanding Student Engagement & Leadership” for schools with fewer than 5,000 students.

“We are thrilled to see our E & I Program highlighted by the GCEC and earn this prestigious award,” said Alan Eisner, dean of the School of Business. “Clark’s entrepreneurial students are a truly impressive group, and it has been exciting to see how the program’s growth has impacted both Clark and our surrounding community.”

The award in the “Outstanding Student Engagement & Leadership” category was presented to Clark for achieving high levels of student engagement and exceptional student leadership in its entrepreneurship programming. Selection criteria includes level of student engagement, impact of student leaders, and variety of student activities.

Under the guidance of the School of Business and  program manager Teresa Quinn, the E & I program has experienced outstanding growth. Programing now includes the annual Clark Tank Competition; Clark Collective – a collection of Clark students’ small businesses; the new Trans Collective, which provides a safe and inclusive shopping experience for the LGBTQAI+ community;  Community Thrift ‘n Flip – the long-standing thrift store that serves Clark University and the area Worcester community; Clark Entrepreneurship Club and the TIE Club – Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship; and finally, the new Food Combi, which brings student-created foods to campus and the community.
