Academic Advancement

Academic Advancement

The office of Academic Advancement assists ALANA and first generation college students in the development and implementation of their academic and career goals. The office also directs the ACE Summer Institute.

The office implements support services such as:

  • academic plans,
  • study groups, and
  • peer mentoring to promote the academic success of students.

It serves as an anchor for enhanced University-wide initiatives to promote the academic success of the undergraduate students, with a particular focus on ALANA (African descent, Latino, Asian and Native American) and first-generation college students. We work to make a big difference in the lives of the students with whom we serve.

ALANA and first generation college students are invited to attend the ACE (Academic Clark Excellence) Summer Institute which runs prior to first year orientation. The ACE Summer Institute is designed to prepare them for the rigorous Clark experience and includes two academic courses for credit, building a mentor network around leadership and academic relations, developing personal and social relationships with peers and understanding the community climate of Clark.
