A group of current screen studies students and alumni worked together in June to create a short film for the Providence 48 Hour Film Project. Over the course of one weekend, the team created “Puddin’ Foot,” a Western-style film in which a straight-laced hypochondriac picks up a battered cowboy on a roadside, finding himself lassoed into a crime stint.

The team included:

  • Nicole Overbaugh ‘24, Team Leader, UPM, and actor
  • Abigail Rhodes ’24, MFA ’26, writer
  • Gyani Pradhan Wong Ah Sui ’24, production designer
  • Quinn Fay ’24, actor
  • Gwen Arbetman ’24, first assistant director
  • Griffin Temple ’24, co-composer
  • Marco Marvin ’25, co-composer
  • Zeke Fairley ’25, director
  • Angel Rojas ’25, editor
  • Brady Kershaw ’27, gaffer
  • Haley Sullivan ’26, second assistant director and script supervisor
  • Spencer Labbe ’27, second assistant camera
  • Professor Brittany Severance, photo and video

A group of current Clarkies and alumni created “Puddin’ Foot” over one weekend.

“This was my first 48-hour film festival, so the pace of it was something new to me, but it was a really fun couple of days. The biggest challenge for me was adapting to new roles and responsibilities alongside the very short time frame.”

“I hope that viewers take from the film some kind of motivation to make something, and that good projects can come out of minimal resources.”

“I’ll be working on my honors thesis film this year, and ‘Puddin’ Foot’ gave me more experience and exposure to what I’ll need to learn to make that the best it can be.”
