Entrepreneurship program earns national award for student engagement, leadership

The Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC), a leadership organization for university entrepreneurship programs, has recognized the Clark University School of Management’s  Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (E&I) as one of the premier university-based programs in the country.

Clark is one of only 20 entrepreneurship centers or programs — out of 65 nominees in 10 categories — honored by the GCEC this year; Clark’s program was recognized for outstanding student engagement and leadership among schools with fewer than 5,000 students.

“We are thrilled to see our E&I Program highlighted by the GCEC with this prestigious award,” says Alan Eisner, dean of the School of Management. “Clark’s entrepreneurial students are a truly impressive group, and it has been exciting to see how the program’s growth has impacted both Clark and our surrounding community.”

The award recognizes Clark for high levels of student engagement, exceptional student leadership, and breadth of student activities in its entrepreneurship programming.

Under the guidance of the School of Management and E&I program manager Teresa Quinn, the program has expanded its offerings for the 2021–22 year. Programming now includes the annual Clark Tank competition (formerly the Ureka Challenge); the Clark Collective, which brings together Clark students’ small businesses; the new Trans Collective, providing a safe and inclusive shopping experience for the LGBTQAI+ community; Community Thrift ’n Flip — previously known as the Clark Community Thrift Store, serving Clark University and the area Worcester community; the student-run Clark Entrepreneurship Club and the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (TIE); and the new Food Combi, which brings student-created foods to campus and the community.

The GCEC is a consortium of leading university entrepreneurship programs across the United States that collaborate toward advancing excellence in entrepreneurship programming and initiatives. The consortium comprises more than 250 member centers.
