Clark faculty and staff have adapted the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ career readiness competencies to develop our own working definitions of the eight foundational skills that prepare students for success in the workplace.
Career & Self Development
Our students reflect on their interests and abilities, research future opportunities, and network with others inside and outside of Clark to clarify their future career goals, build relationships, and engage in self-development at Clark and beyond.
Communication
Our students clearly express their ideas both orally and in writing, and can adjust their messaging accordingly based on audience and purpose.
Critical Thinking
Our students engage in critical thinking, applying their knowledge to analyze and evaluate complex realities.
Equity & Inclusion
Our students combine their academic knowledge and lived experiences to create an inclusive and equitable environment through a culture of belonging and acceptance. They work together to challenge unjust systems and engage in anti-racist practices.
Leadership
Our students identify and utilize their unique strengths as an individual, team member, or leader towards shared goals or projects.
Professionalism
Our students demonstrate professionalism through their actions that display courteous, understanding, and respectful engagement with the larger community and their workplaces.
Teamwork
Our students work collaboratively with each other, sharing responsibility and navigating diverse viewpoints.
Technology
Our students use a variety of technologies to support their learning and enhance their efficiencies.
