A member of Clark’s rowing team, Sara Parvin, a psychology major, has been interning in the Neurology Department at UMass Chan Medical School, working with a team that treats people dealing with severe neuromuscular illnesses. The experience has made her aware of the challenges facing patients and their families under trying circumstances. She also presented at the Eastern Psychological Association on the human need for physical contact, or “touch hunger.”
Parvin recently took the MCAT and will be pursuing medical school after completing a master’s program in clinical counseling psychology at Assumption University, where she was awarded a fellowship. During this time, she hopes to continue building on her clinical and research experience. “I plan to stay engaged in similar work while also gaining more hands-on clinical exposure,” she says. “I’m especially interested in opportunities that allow me to work closely with patients and better understand the day-to-day realities of healthcare.”
