Health, Science, and Society

What courses should I take in my first year to see if this is the right major for me?

Some of the courses that we recommend you take for this major would be ID 106, ID 121, BIO 101, BIO 102, and PHIL 130. All these courses apply to the major and can be taken without needing a pre-requisite course.

Are there any courses I am required or strongly encouraged to take in my first semester if I know I want to declare this major? Do any AP credits count for these requirements?

See the answer to the question above as to which courses would be best to take in your
first semester. A score of 4 or 5 on the AP Biology exam can count for the BIOL 102
course requirement within our major.

What is the latest semester that I can start this major and still graduate in four years?

14 courses are required to complete this major so the latest you can declare this major
is the end of your Sophomore year (provided you have completed your Core
requirements).

I am interested in many different subjects. What other majors, minors, or concentrations go
well with this major?

Some of the programs that go well with the Health, Science and Society major include; Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, International Development and Social Change, Environmental Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Business.

What else do you want incoming first year students to know about this major?

The Health, Science, and Society is one of Clark’s newer programs of study, but is rapidly growing to keep pace with the level of interest from Clark’s student body. This program helps students prepare for a variety of careers in the medical field, while helping our students become experts on how the field of medicine can keep pace with the wide range of health issues our society faces on a local and global stage.

If I want to declare this as a major, who should I talk to and where do I go?
