Welcome to WordPress Basic Training

We empower you to have the knowledge and skills to maintain your own departmental websites.

This site offers not only training documentation and resources, but also an online training environment for you to safely get comfortable within the WordPress environment.

We offer a list of How To instructions to get you started off. Here’s a sample of the growing list of “How To’s” we’ve put together for you:

  • Login to your website
  • Make basic edits to your existing pages
  • Add blocks to your existing pages
  • Add an Events to the university calendar and your website
  • Add an Announcement or News Story to your sites
  • How to ensure all your digital content complies with people who may have disabilities (websites, word docs, pdfs, etc.).

Hands on training

Web Operations also offers regularly scheduled training events where you can get hands on training with an instructor via Zoom classes. The schedule for these training events are showcased on the right of this page.

Still need help?

So you’ve taken the training, you’ve reviewed the training documentation, tried within this training environment, and still need additional help or support—no worries. We are always here to support you. There are several ways to get assistance:

  • Check out our Resource Page
  • Book an online teams call with an instructor
  • Enter a web request for additional help
  • Need immediate help? Contact Carol D’Onofrio or Jordan Aubin via teams instant messenger or give us a call directly.

Need permissions to access a site?

To obtain permission and access to an office or department website, an email from the department’s head should be sent to Carol D’Onofrio, CMS administrator, stating you can have access to this particular website. Then you must attend one of our basic trainings first before being permitted to access or make any changes to that site.
