Before coming to an appointment, please attend a study abroad 101 and review the study abroad website. If you aren’t sure where to get started, we invite you to consider the following questions in preparation for your appointment:

  • What semester do you plan to study abroad in?
  • What do you want to study while abroad?
  • What region would you like to study in?
  • Are there any programs that interest you?
  • Is there a language you would like to study?

Apply

The application process will take place on the Study Abroad application portal.

  • Identify a faculty member who can serve as a reference on your application.
  • Research courses at the host institution and obtain approval from your faculty advisor for any major or minor requirements you wish to fulfill while abroad.
  • Apply to both your program and Clark, by the Clark deadline.

Finalize your enrollment

You’ve been approved—now it’s time to make it official. Before you board your flight, there are several important steps to complete. You’ll receive key communications from both Clark and your host organization—read everything thoroughly and respond promptly.

Application deadline

The final date by which all application materials must be submitted for a study abroad program. 

Engage

Clark’s online platform for managing events, student organization engagement, and calendar updates. Check Engage for Study Abroad 101 or drop-in advising sessions.

Pre-departure orientation

A required session designed to prepare students for their study abroad experience, covering key topics such as health and safety, academic expectations, cultural adaptation, financial planning, and identity considerations abroad.

Priority application deadline

An early submission date for study abroad applications. Students who submit all required materials by this deadline can receive early approval to study abroad from the Clark Study Abroad Office. 

Study Abroad 101 | Study Abroad 102

SA 101 is the mandatory introductory info session that students must attend no later than the semester before going abroad; it is recommended that students attend during their first year. SA 102 is a supplementary session focused on financial planning and student responsibilities while abroad.
