What is the onboarding process?
Recently hired for an on-campus position? If you have never worked on-campus before, then you first need to complete what we call the “onboarding” process prior to your first day of work.
Two steps of onboarding
All students who need to onboard at Clark receive complete instructions via email. An abbreviated version of the onboarding process follows. For the most-up to-date version, check your email when you are hired!
Step 1: Bring your official government identification documents to Clark
Before coming to Clark, make sure you have your original forms of government identification. No copies will be accepted. For most Clark students, the forms of ID are usually a passport OR either an original SSN card or original or certified birth certificate. I-9 Acceptable Identification outlines the full list.
Step 2: Submit your employment forms for review
You will receive your onboarding packet via email from clarku@interviewexchange.com with the subject line “Your Onboarding Process at – Clark University [New Hire Student]” and an email from WorkBright with the subject line with the subject line “Access your required paperwork for Clark University.” Please complete all necessary forms online as instructed.
U.S. students must complete these documents online:
- I-9 (Section 1; please review the list of I-9 Acceptable Identification); you will then choose an authorized representative for Section 2.
- W-4 Federal Tax Withholding Form
- M-4 Massachusetts Tax Withholding Form
- Visual proof of your bank’s routing and account number from a screenshot of your banking app, voided check or bank statement
International students must supply these documents online:
- I-9 (Section 1; please review the list of I-9 Acceptable Identification); students should note that if they do not have a Social Security Number (SSN) at the time they fill out their I-9 form, they may leave that field blank. You will then choose an authorized representative for Section 2.
- Copies of I-94, I-20, and visa
- Voided check or bank statement confirming your bank’s routing and account number
- Social Security Number (SSN) or a completed online application, and a scheduled in-person appointment at a Social Security Office
- If you need to apply for an SSN, you can start the process online! Download our flyer to walk you through the steps. For information, see page 10 of the Student Employment Handbook.
- You will receive a separate email with instructions and credentials to log into Sprintax to determine if you are eligible for treaty benefits. Sprintax is handled by the Payroll Office.
