Next steps after completing onboarding forms

Once you have received Student Employment approval of section 1 of your Form I-9 and completed section 2 with an authorized representative, the Office of Student Employment will create your employment record in our payroll system within one or two business days.

Student Employment will approve your hire form, and the person who submitted your hire form (either your supervisor or a department administrator) will be notified that you are approved to begin work. From there, work with your supervisor to schedule your first day!

Important items to remember:

• Timesheets: If you have an hourly position, you will have a timesheet. Please review the instructions for submission. Timesheets are due every other Monday by noon. Due dates are available on the Payroll Calendar, and we post reminders on our Instagram @clarku_student_employment!
  • Salaried positions for applicable graduate student positions will be paid out biweekly according to the above payroll calendar.
• Training: You are required to complete the Mandatory Student Employment Training available on Canvas. Please enroll yourself using the above link. It will take you about half an hour to watch the video and complete the 4 questions, so you may add a half hour to your timesheet so we pay you for the training. We will contact you within a few weeks to confirm that you have completed the training and passed the quiz.
  • If you are a salaried employee, please discuss adding this one-time, half-hour training to your normally allotted weekly hours.
• Student Employment Handbook: You should familiarize yourself with the policies included in the Student Employment Handbook.
• International Students: The Payroll Office will be in touch regarding Sprintax, which they will use to determine how to tax your wages. If you are applying for your SSN, please review our flyer on the process. We will be in touch during the application process.
