Power-Greene receives inaugural award named for late Clark professor

The Clemente Course in the Humanities has awarded History Professor Ousmane Power-Greene the Amy Richter Teaching Award, which recognizes Clemente faculty members who exemplify exceptional teaching, mentorship, and dedication to students, The award was established in honor of Professor Amy Richter, who passed away earlier this year.

In putting Power-Greene forward for the award, one nominee wrote, “Ousmane was just as inspired by our students as they were by him. This respect for each other is the key to all great teaching, and consequently, I remember classroom debate and discussion that lasted well beyond the end of class.”

“Thank all who nominated me,” Power-Greene said. “I know there’s an incredible group of teacher-scholars here, so I’m very humbled and excited to spread the word about Amy as an incredible intellectual, teacher, and community member.”
