The annual PAX East convention is exciting for all avid gamers, especially the Clarkies who were able to exhibit projects they’ve worked on throughout the academic year.
PAX East celebrates gaming in all its forms, from electronics to tabletop play. Held March 26-29, thousands of people packed the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston to see new game demos and attend educational panels.
For students in the Becker School of Design & Technology, the exposition was an opportunity to showcase original games to the general public. Among the games on show was “I Dream of Saturday,” a project that includes mock commercials, advertisements, and mini games all played with a cable remote on a cathode ray tube (CRT) TV.
“We wanted to bring interactive experiences to art spaces. Along the way, we came up with the idea to fully emulate the act of flipping through TV channels 20 years ago,” says Chase Soucy ’26, who leads the “I Dream of Saturday” project.
