The launch year of Clark’s School of Climate, Environment, and Society (CES) will culminate in April with a campuswide celebration of Earth Month. Departments, offices, and student groups will host events and activities throughout the month highlighting Clark’s scholarship and community-building around some of the most pressing climate and environmental issues facing humanity.

Activities will include opportunities to connect with nature by working in the Hadwen Arboretum and the Clark Community Garden; to combine sustainability and the arts by decorating everyday items; to learn from scholars and students who have conducted climate research around the world; and to gather together for the annual Green on the Green celebration of Earth Day.

The month will feature the first School of Climate, Environment, and Society Forum, moderated by New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman and featuring panelists Mindy Lubber, president and CEO of sustainability nonprofit Ceres, and Lou Leonard, the D.J.A. Spencer Dean of CES. They will explore where we stand on climate progress today and discuss interdisciplinary solutions to some of our most formidable problems, the role of universities in driving environmental change, community-centered climate action, and how we prepare future leaders to navigate complex global challenges.
