Clark University has been recognized by the U.S. Department of State as a 25-year Top Producer of Gilman Scholars.

This designation recognizes Clark’s longstanding strength and success with securing funding from the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program — merit-based scholarships that provide up to $5,000 to outstanding American undergraduate students with high financial need — to pursue credit-bearing academic studies and career-oriented internships abroad. These opportunities equip Gilman Scholars with international experience, global networks, and foreign language skills essential to advancing U.S. economic competitiveness and national security.
“Clark is committed to helping our students remain competitive and succeed in all they do, and we’re especially passionate when it comes to securing funding for our students to experience an international education,” said Sarah Lopolito, associate dean and director of the Office of Global Engagement, which administers the Gilman Program at Clark. “Our students benefit immensely from living and learning abroad; doing so not only improves their academic progress and personal growth, it helps foster competitive career skills and form global networks.”
Seventy-four Clark students have received Gilman Scholarships since the program began in 2001.
“It’s an honor to be recognized as a national leader by the Gilman Program,” said Colton King, associate director of global engagement and study abroad and exchange coordinator at Clark. “I look forward to continuing our successful partnership with this program for many years to come.”
The Gilman Program was established by the U.S. Congress in 2001 and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
