David Hibbett is a Professor of Biology at Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts. USA. He received a B.S. in Botany from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a PhD in Botany from Duke University. He held postdoctoral fellowships at the Tottori Mycological Institute (Japan) and the Harvard University Herbaria.

My research program investigates the physiological ecology and the evolution of nitrogen metabolism in marine diatoms and other ecologically important groups of marine algae. In many marine environments, nitrogen availability is an important factor regulating primary productivity.
