Kevin Schindler, author of Robert Goddard’s Massachusetts (set to be released March 3), will present historical images, personal writings, and accounts of Goddard’s pioneering 1926 liquid‑fuel rocket launch that beckoned in the era of modern spaceflight. The program will also highlight Esther Goddard’s essential role in preserving her husband’s legacy and ensuring his contributions continue to inspire future explorers.
Kevin Schindler is the historian and public information officer at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he has worked for 31 years. He has authored nine books, including Robert Goddard’s Massachusetts, and contributes a bi-weekly astronomy column, “View from Mars Hill,” for the Arizona Daily Sun. In May 2023, he served as Astronomer-in-Residence at the Grand Canyon. Fun fact: Kevin has both a fossil crab and an asteroid named after him.
