Cheryl Maykel, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Practice in School Psychology at Clark University. As a nationally certified school psychologist, researcher, and consultant, her work reflects a holistic approach to school psychology that emphasizes student wellness and the development of healthy and supportive educational environments. As an educator, Dr. Maykel is dedicated to preparing future school psychologists to support the complex and evolving needs of students and school communities.
Dr. Maykel’s research interests center on mind-body health and wellness in schools, with particular interests in mindfulness, physical activity, and stress management. Her work has appeared in leading journals in the field and she has served as a reviewer of professional journals, including service on the editorial board of the International Journal of School & Educational Psychology. Dr. Maykel is also a co-editor of Promoting Mind–Body Health in Schools: Interventions for Mental Health Professionals.
In addition, Dr. Maykel has consulted with schools and university groups, providing psychoeducational assessments and professional training. She has also contributed to the profession through the American Psychological Association, first by serving two consecutive terms as Treasurer of Division 16 (School Psychology), and currently as a member of the APA Ethics Committee.
