Sick Leave Donation is intended to be sensitive to the fact that employees may have extended conditions or reoccurring serious illnesses that may leave them without adequate paid sick leave. Employees may be allowed to donate a portion of their sick leave to a fellow employee using the following guidelines:
The recipient of donated sick leave may receive a maximum total of twenty (20) days per fiscal year from fellow employees, and must meet the following eligibility requirements: The recipient must—
a) have used up all of their own available earned sick leave;
b) have an extended illness or condition, which requires an absence of more than five workdays.
An employee may donate sick leave time to a fellow employee providing that the donating employee has a minimum sick leave balance of 20 days remaining for their own use after the donation to the fellow employee(s).
All requests for sick leave donations must be sent in writing to the Office of Human Resources and Operational Excellence at hr@clarku.edu for approval.
