William S. Mosakowski ’76

Citation

Doctor of Humane Letters Mr. President, I have the honor of presenting William S. Mosakowski, founder, president and CEO of Public Consulting Group, and Clark alumnus. Mr. Mosakowski, you founded PCG, a management consulting firm that serves clients in the health and human services, as well as in K-12 education. Prior to this, you held positions as assistant revenue director with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, manager of reimbursement at Harvard Community Health Plan, and senior consultant at Touche Ross Company. In all these endeavors, you have excelled. As an alumnus of Clark, class of 1976, you have remained a true Clarkie. Your strong and continuing commitment to Clark is demonstrated in many ways. You served on the Board of Trustees from ___ to 2011, including a four-year term as chairman. During your time as chair, you oversaw significant changes for the University, including the successful search for Clarks newest president, David Angel, in 2009. In addition to your service on the board, you and your wife, Jane Rossetti Mosakowski, Clark class of 1975, have been incredibly supportive of your alma mater. Your 10 million gift to Clark in 2006, the largest gift in University history at that time, enabled the creation of the Mosakowski Institute for Public Enterprise, which conducts research to produce knowledge that governments can use to become more effective and improve peoples lives. At its inaugural conference, the Institute focused on crucial questions, such as How can we get spiraling health costs under control and simultaneously improve quality of and access to care and How can we improve outcomes for Americas urban public schools These questions clearly align with your interests and values, particularly in the areas of education, health care, and government accountability. The work of the Institute demonstrates that your legacy at Clark will endure in the years to come. You exemplify Clarks motto Challenge Convention. Change Our World. Mr. President, on behalf of the Trustees, faculty, students, and staff at Clark University, it gives me great pleasure to request that the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, be conferred upon Mr. William S. Mosakowski.
