Shorena Giorgadze

Major: Economics

Clark Days: Shorena entered Clark undecided about her major, but by the time she’d completed her first semester she was convinced that economics would be her academic path. She spent her junior year studying at the London School of Economics and interned with Lord Abbett, one of the oldest investment management companies in the United States. Her senior thesis, completed under the guidance of Professor Wayne Gray, focuses on monetary policy, specifically how the Federal Reserve’s communication tool known as forward guidance affects financial markets.

Post-Commencement Plans: Shorena will return to her native New York City, where she will work as a sales advisor/consultant for Lord Abbett, selling investment instruments and ideas to clients while keeping a close watch on the financial markets. She hopes one day to return to the London School of Economics to earn an MBA. “I think this shows that every Clark student is capable of going to these big companies and getting a job if they want to,” she says.

Observation: “One of the most important things I learned at Clark is to be passionate about what you’re learning — know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.”
