Clark University is introducing a new campuswide tradition this Saturday, Sept. 26, with the first-ever Cougar Pit Party, a tailgating event held alongside games at the Dolan Field House and Granger Athletic Complex on Beaver Street.
“I’m really excited about this new event,” says Danielle Morgan Acosta, assistant provost for student success and dean of students. “The Cougar Pit Party is a fun partnership between the Division of Student Success and Athletics and Recreation, shaped in part by feedback from students about wanting more opportunities to come together, have fun, and cheer on our teams.”
The Pit Party will feature food trucks, free swag, tabling by registered student organizations, plenty of photo opportunities with Jonas the Cougar, and halftime dance performances.
“We are planning to have something for everyone,” says Trish Cronin, director of athletics and recreation. The event is open to Clark students, faculty, staff, families, friends, and alumni, she added, and will include a beer garden for those over the age of 21.
Later that evening, the Clark Athletics Hall of Fame will induct its newest members. Three of those former student-athletes will be honored at games happening during the Cougar Pit Party (see box).
