Join us for the opening of “Urban Fabric,” an exhibit showing the work of interdisciplinary artist Lachell C. Workman. The exhibit will be on display on the first floor of the Traina Center for the Arts, with an opening event running from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21.
Workman combines sculpture, photography, and installation to tell stories and preserve memories. Her work explores themes of collective mourning, upholds space for communal experiences, and uplifts voices that are usually suppressed. Her pieces have been showcased in galleries for over a decade, including the Brattleboro Museum (2022), MoMA PS1 (2021), The Studio Museum of Harlem (2019), the Sculpture Center in New York (2018), and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin (2018). She received her BFA from the University of Connecticut and her MFA from SUNY at Purchase College, where she currently teaches sculpture.
The show will run until Clark’s winter break.
