Founded in 2006 by Tracy Kraus ’83 and Clark music professor Peter Sulski, the Worcester Chamber Music Society returns to Razzo Hall for a performance and discussion of Concerto Grosso No. 1 by Ernest Bloch. A reception will follow the concert.

Bloch completed Concerto Grosso No. 1 in 1925, shortly before his departure from the Cleveland Institute of music (of which he was the founder), to demonstrate to his students how music could still be composed using only traditional forms. The finished work brims with the energy and vitality of the concerto grosso form while sparkling with the freshness of the 20th century.

The concert is a special fundraiser sponsored by longtime patron Ruth Westheimer; it was initially scheduled to happen in 2020 to celebrate her 80th birthday.

WCMB musicians include:

  • Krista Buckland Reisner, violin
  • Rohan Gregory, violin
  • Mark Berger, viola
  • Peter Sulski, viola
  • David Russell, cello
  • Joshua Gordon, cello
  • Randall Hodgkinson, piano

With guest artists:
