Juan MatosDominican poet Juan Matos, recently honored by Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez with an invitation to the presidential inauguration, will read and discuss his poetry in a bilingual (Spanish/English) event.

Matos is a charismatic reader with a strong stage presence. As a public intellectual, he is internationally recognized for his strong criticism of racism, social and educational injustice, and the abusive practices of mining corporations. Author of eight books and the Worcester Poet Laureate, he is the founder of “Miercoletras,” a weekly poetry program that, over the past two years, has built an audience of thousands of viewers in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He is a passionate speaker who has inspired countless teachers, poets, and political activists to action.
