Living in one of our residence halls as a first-year or transfer student is a key part of your Clark experience. Below, learn how to apply for housing, plan for your arrival in August, be aware of residence hall closings during breaks, and more.
Applying for Housing

- Click the menu item Housing and Dining Self-Service.
- Click on the Applications, Forms & Requests tab.
- Fill out the New Student Housing & Dining Request Form.
Applications for incoming first-year and transfer students open on April 16. First-year students should complete the application by June 4; transfer students should complete it by June 30.
Arriving on Campus
First-year and transfer student residence halls open at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22. Students moving in on that date should enter campus via Woodland Street from Main Street. Once on Woodland Street, staff will be on hand to direct you to your residence hall. Please have your hall name and room number handy. For more information, see our Week One arrival schedule and information.
When you arrive at your hall, our peer assistants and resident advisers will welcome you, provide your room key, and help unload your belongings from your car into bins and move it to your room.
If you live more than 500 miles from campus…
First-year students who live 500 or more miles from Clark, and who are not registered in a pre-orientation program, may request permission to arrive on campus a day early on Wednesday, Aug. 21. To do so, complete an early arrival application in the Housing and Dining Self-Service portal on ClarkYOU by Aug. 1. Requests received after that date will result in a late application fee.
On Aug. 21, pick up your key at the Residential Life and Housing Office in the University Center, third floor. If you plan to arrive after 5 p.m., please contact us at 1-508-793-7453 or ResLife@ClarkU.edu as soon as possible to make arrangements.
If you’re participating in an early orientation program…
If you need to make housing and travel plans for winter break, note that the residence halls close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, and reopen for the spring semester at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020.
If you need to leave late or arrive early, you can request a contract extension for up to 72 hours. The fee is $30 per day if requested more than two weeks in advance. If your request is received after the deadline, it may be denied or you may be charged a late fee.
Residence halls close at noon on May 6, 2020, for all non-graduating students. Halls close on May 18, 2020, at noon for graduating students.
See our accommodations page for hotels in the Worcester area if you need to arrive before your scheduled date, or need lodging for family or friends.
