Move-in Information
First-Year Move-in
Move-in is on Thursday, August 24th, 2023. Each student has a dedicated arrival window based on the building and floor they will be living on, which can be found below.
Please adhere to your assigned time to ensure the move-in process is as seamless and stress-free as possible for everyone and make the move-in process for all as smooth as possible
- 8:00am – 9:00am: 3rd floors of Bullock, Dana, Hughes, and Wright
- 9:30am – 10:30am: 2nd floors of Bullock, Dana, Hughes, Dodd, and Wright
- 11:00am – 12:00pm: 1st and ground floors of Bullock, Dana, Hughes, Dodd, and Wright
Students will need to know which residence hall they’re moving into, which can be found on the Housing & Dining Self-Service page via students ClarkYou portal. Please keep in mind that our system lists a zero (0) before some building room numbers. If that is the case, use the second digit when determining floor number. Example: Dana Hall 0302 is located on the 3rd floor, for ground level rooms it may look like 0010 or 010.
Move-in directions, check-in locations, and parking information can be found on the Clark University Move-in Map
As indicated on the attached map, students will move in using the following routes and should proceed to their designated check-in tent at their residence hall:
- Bullock: Coming from Main Street, enter Maywood Street. You can then unload your belongings in the Admissions Visitor and Permit Parking lot on the left.
- Wright: Coming from Main Street, enter Woodland Street. You can then unload in front of Wright Hall (150 Woodland St).
- Dodd, Dana, and Hughes: Coming from Main Street, enter Hawthorne Street. You will follow the designated path to unload in front of Dodd Hall (56 Downing St) or Dana & Hughes Halls (65 Florence St).
- Please note, most roads will have one way traffic. You should plan to enter campus from Main Street.
Additional information about move-in will be emailed to students in August.
Transfer Move-in
Move-in is on Friday, August 25th, 2023. Students may move-in any time between 9am-noon. Students will receive additional information in the email regarding their check-in location.
Arriving Early
Students looking to arrive early will need to complete the 500+ Miles Away First Year Student Early Move-in application on the Housing & Dining Self-Service portal. Outside of participating in a pre-orientation program, the earliest that incoming first-year and transfers can arrive to campus is on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023.
How does early arrival work?
Incoming students approved to move-in early on Wednesday, August 23, can pick up their key and ID from the check-in table on the first floor of the University Center between 9:00am-noon.
If arriving later, please contact reslife@clarku.edu to coordinate pick-up.

Housing assignments and corresponding roommate information are available on the Housing and Dining Self-Service portal. Once you log on, the information will be on the main screen.
Please see the Instructions on Accessing the Housing and Dining Self-Service Portal document for step-by-step instructions.
Students wanting to change their meal plan should use their Housing and Dining self-service portal to adjust their meal plan. Reminder: students living in traditional and suite style housing are required to be on a full meal plan.
Students have until Friday, September 8, 2023, to reduce/cancel the meal plan. After September 8, 2023, you can only add a meal plan. Meal plan information can be found here.
Single and suite room types were filled based on a first come, first-serve basis, with priority being given to those students with approved accommodations through Student Accessibility Services.
Students who are looking to change their rooms will be able to submit a room change request starting Wednesday September 27, 2023. The form will be available online and further instructions will be sent to your Clark email address when the form becomes available. Transparently, singles are very limited, so it is highly unlikely that you will be able to switch into a single room even if you complete the room change request form.

Your residence hall is overseen by a Community Director who is a live-on professional staff member trained to assist students with concerns, connectedness, etc. as they live on campus. Additionally, on your floor there will be a Resident Adviser, a student staff member, who is also trained to assist students in dealing with concerns in their living area. We strongly encourage students to work with their Resident Adviser and Community Director to try and mediate any issues and concerns first. Many times, the problem can be resolved. In addition to potentially being able to resolve the concerns, another reason we encourage students to work with their Hall staff is because the room change process not being available until a few weeks into the semester.
We invite students to take a virtual tour to see what the inside of our residential halls and houses looks like.
While some of our room sizes may vary, every student room comes with a bed, dresser, desk, and desk chair. Unfortunately, we do not have dimensions of the rooms or furniture provided in each of our halls.
Clark University students can view building floor plans by clicking here.
Unfortunately, for fire safety reasons students are unable to loft their beds. Students who want to bunk the beds in their space are asked to submit a work request to Facilities Management and staff will take care of that during the first few weeks of the semester.
Yes! Most standard bed risers work (around 2.5-3″ diameter), and many of our students also use extra tall bed risers. The one kind we don’t allow are bed risers with built-in electrical outlets, as they are a fire safety hazard.
None of our desk drawers of cabinets lock. Many students end up buying a small safe to keep valuables in.
Only removable adhesives that do not cause damage or leave marks can be used to hang objects on walls. Do not use scotch tape, masking tape, or pushpins in woodwork. We find that blue painters tape works well.
