Graduate Housing

University housing for graduate students consists of spaces located in University houses (906, 914, and 926 Main Street). All rooms are furnished and students will have a single room and share common areas, a bathroom, and a kitchen.

906 Main Street - IDCE Social Change House

IDCE Students have priority placement in 906 Main Street. At 906 Main Street 14 students live together in an "open house" style - meaning that the entire house is shared by the residents with with shared kitchens and bathrooms on each floor. In addition to the 14 private bedrooms, 906 Main Street also features a common living room and a dedicated study area on the third floor. The house  underwent a significant renovation in Summer 2014 and features new porches, exterior and interior paint, flooring, kitchen work, lighting upgrades, and many other improvements.

914 Main Street

914 Main Street is our most recently upgraded Graduate Housing which got new kitchens in 2012. 24 students live here in six different four-person apartment units. Each apartment has a nice common living room, a full kitchen and bathroom, and 4 single occupancy rooms. Rooms ending in 04 have a window out to the back porch, not the outdoors - perfect for students who are sensitive to noise from the city outside.

926 Main Street

926 Main Street is our largest Graduate House, but features the fewest students per apartment. 33 students live here in 11 different three-person apartment units. Each apartment shares a kitchen, dining area, and bathroom. One apartment unit in the building is open exclusively for 926 Main Residents as a dedicated study and community space.

Benefits of Living in Campus Housing!

  • Walkways are shoveled for you by Facilities Management.
  • Maintainers from Facilities Management remove trash and recycling from graduate apartments, and do light cleaning of the common areas (including bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas).
  • If there are any issues with your apartment, work orders are easy to submit (online) and are repaired at no cost to you if it is from normal usage or normal wear and tear (students are responsible for malicious or accidental damage).
  • Facilities Management provides these repairs as needed 24/7 (within reason; emergencies are prioritized; general maintenance is deferred to business hours).
  • If you have roommate issues, you can change rooms or apartments without breaking a contract
  • Clark University Police manage any safety concerns or issues.
  • You sign an individual contract- you do not need to worry about filling an apartment of finding roommates.
  • Rooms are entirely furnished. Individual bedrooms come with twin extra-long mattresses and frames, a desk & chair, a closet or wardrobe, and a set of drawers. Common areas have a coffee table and couch, include a kitchen table and chairs, fridges, and microwaves are all standard.
  • Laundry facilities are available to all campus residents.
  • Clark University Residential Life & Housing offers 10-month contracts, or the option for a fall-only or spring-only contract.
  • There are summer housing contracts available to students who need to stay, as well, for a separate cost.

Graduate Housing Selection

All Clark University graduate students are eligible to live on campus. To apply for housing for the 2018-2019 school year, those interested will apply on their Housing and Dining Self-Service using the Graduate Housing Application. At the beginning of the application, you will have the opportunity to read and sign the Graduate Housing Contract. After applications are received and the priority deadline has passed, RLH will send notifications of housing assignments to all of those that have applied.

  • August 1st: Housing contract begins
  • September 24th: Applications open for Spring contracts
  • December 18th: Spring contract applications close
  • December 21st: Fall only contracts end
  • January 9th, 2019: Spring only contracts begin
  • May 31st, 2019: Spring only & full year contracts end

FAQ's

Can my spouse or pet live with me?

  • Clark does not offer housing for the family members or pets of their students. If students have a service animal, approval can be granted by the Student Accessibility Office to allow the animal in on campus housing.

Can I request a specific roommate?

  • Yes, you may indicate your preferred roommates in the graduate housing application. Our office will do our best to meet all of your housing preferences.

Will I have to move out over winter and summer breaks?

  • Graduate students who sign a 10-month contract do not need to move out of their residence over winter break and will not need to pay extra for staying in their housing assignment over winter break.
  • Graduate students who would like summer housing will need to move to the designated summer housing buildings on campus and will need to pay an extra cost for staying over the summer.
