Building Worker’s Power: Asia Floor Wage Alliance

Wiranta Ginting headshot

Wiranta Ginting is an organizer and labor rights educator, who has worked with trade unions, small grassroots NGOs and worker-led organizing programs in South-East Asia for twenty years. He leads workplace and community campaigns for decent work and living wages in global fashion supply chains. Currently, he is deputy international coordinator for Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA). The Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) was founded in 2007 as an Asian labor-led global labor and social alliance across garment-producing countries (such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) and consumer regions (USA and Europe) for addressing poverty-level wages, gender discrimination, and freedom of association in global garment production networks. The talk is being offered as part of the undergraduate course on Labor Geography, and is open to anyone in the Clark community interested in joining.
