Building Worker’s Power: Workers’ Centers and the Future of the Labor Movement

Arise Chicago partners with workers and faith communities to fight workplace injustice through education, organizing, and advocating for public policy changes. Adam Kader served as Arise Chicago’s Worker Center Director for 14 years before becoming Public Policy Director in 2021. Before joining Arise Chicago, he worked as an adult English language learner instructor for a variety of immigrant community organizations in Chicago and taught a Labor and Social Movements course at the University of Illinois. Adam received a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Public Policy with a concentration in Community Development from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Spanish, with a minor in Gender Studies, from Lawrence University. Adam is fluent in English and Spanish. The talk is being offered as part of the undergraduate course on Labor Geography, and is open to anyone in the Clark Community interested in joining.
