FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is ACE?
ACE is an acronym for Academic Clark Excellence. Clark students who attend the program are expected to strive for excellence in all they do.
What are the eligibility requirements for the program?
You must be a first-generation college student or an ALANA student. First generation is someone who is the first person in their family to attend a four-year institution and an ALANA student is a person who is African-American, Latino, Asian, or Native American.
What will I do while in the program?
Get to know the campus, adapt to the college, complete an intensive course in math and in writing for college (for a half unit of credit each), build a connection with your peers faculty, and staff.
Will courses count toward graduation?
Yes, they will be on your transcript and included in your first semester grades and GPA.
Will this be a fun experience for me?
Yes. Activities are planned for the evenings and weekends; these help you get to know the Worcester community in which you will live.
When does the program start?
Two weeks prior to orientation: Aug. 5 through Aug. 22.
What happens on the weekends?
We have cultural enrichment activities. This means you will not go home on the weekends because we will attend various events, such as a play or movie, as part of your class academic assignments.
How do I apply?
You will be invited to apply if you are eligible.
What is the cost of the program?
There is no cost to you and room and board are included; however, the program does require full participation (no going home).
What about books or computers?
Books are provided and you will have access to the computer labs daily.
Will I have a roommate?
Yes. We will match you up with a person of like interest.
Where will we live?
In one of the residence halls.
