What is the Application deadline?

Application materials are due by January 15, 2008.

Is financial aid available?

Yes. We are committed to the support of exceptionally qualified students as they pursue their education in this field. 

Are the Graduate Record Examinations required?

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) are recommended but not required.

How long is the program?

It is reasonable to expect that it will take five years to complete the basic course work, and to research and write a doctoral dissertation.  Students are welcome to accelerate the pace if they wish to do so and if they are able to do so.

Is interdisciplinary study possible?

Yes, the history doctoral program at Clark requires that students take at least two courses outside of the History Department.  The particular courses taken will be determined by the individual student and advisor.

How many students will be accepted?

Two to four students will be admitted into the doctoral program each academic year.

Is there a Master’s degree program?

No, only the doctoral degree is offered at this time.

Can I obtain a degree by correspondence?

No, the doctoral degree is not offered by correspondence.
