Recognize Juneteenth, which celebrates the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States, as a paid holiday for Clark employees.

  • Beginning this year, the University will recognize Juneteenth as an official holiday (on June 18 because the official day of June 19 falls on a weekend). In honor of Juneteenth, a day commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States, Clark will host an event titled “ ‘This Was Not a Riot:’ History, Memory and the Bombing of Black Wall Street.” The event will feature a viewing of the documentary film “Blood on Black Wall Street” followed by a guided conversation led by Professor Ousmane Power Greene.

  • Beginning in 2021, Clark University will provide a paid day off for all employees in honor of Juneteenth.
