We offer free one-to-one assistance with any piece of writing, from short papers, research papers and honors theses to graduate school applications and resumes.
Visit your professors during office hours
Your first stop should be with your professor about any writing questions or concerns. They can clarify the assignment and their expectations while providing insight into the course material. Your professor may also point you in the direction of departmental tutors or teaching assistants.
Visit the Writing Center
Clark provides this free resource to assist in developing your writing capabilities. You may schedule one 50-minute appointment per week with a specially trained Writing Consultant who will assist you with any piece of writing at any stage of the process. Day and evening appointments are available Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment click here or call x7405.
Attend Writing Center workshops
Throughout the year, the Writing Center offers workshops on writing personal statements, proposals and on the writing process itself. Be sure to view the LEEP Center calendar for workshop dates and times. These events will introduce you to the resources and staff here to help, as well as increase your confidence and hone your writing skills.
Connect with your peers
Many peers are excellent writers willing to share their skills and enthusiasm for the craft. Reading your work aloud to another is the best way to improve your writing. In addition, a second pair of eyes never hurts.
