Housing Selection & Lottery

Here you will find information about the undergraduate housing selection process for the 2024-2025 school year. Incoming First-Year and Transfer students, as well as Graduate Students have different selection processes and do not participate in this selection processes. Housing Selection and Lottery have many exciting aspects, which we hope makes the process easier, faster, and more transparent. In addition to the online process of declaring your housing intentions, there will be opportunities to assist you with finding a roommate, real time updates of spaces that are still available, and information sessions in the residence halls to discuss the process.

Discord Server

Need a roommate? Have questions? Join our Housing Selection Discord Server!

  • Please start by reacting with a “thumb up” to the Rules in the General channel that Logan posted in order to access the other channels.
  • The server will be operating on weekdays, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. During info sessions we will also open the FAQ open hours channel.
    • We will have specific FAQ open hours during non-business hours as well as we approach Housing Selection, so stay tuned!
  • The server is monitored by RLH staff and RLH staff will delete any posts that do not align with the rights and responsibilities in our Student Guide in addition to anything not relevant to the housing selection process
  • There is a channel called “Find A Roommate” that can be utilized for groups or individuals looking to create roommate groups.
    • If you are in search of a roommate/roommates, feel free to post in this channel some basic info about who you are and how many/what type of roommate/roommates you are looking for. A good example would be “Cheryl and Amanda are cis female seniors looking for two more students to live in Blackstone with next year. We are both night owls and history majors”
    • If you are interested in chatting with a person who has posted looking for a roommate, please message them directly on Discord, and do not post in the Find A Roommate channel.

All current first-year students are required to live on campus for their sophomore year.  If a rising sophomore does not complete a housing application, they will be placed in housing following housing selection.

All current residential students are presumed to remain on-campus next year unless they indicate otherwise. Junior and senior students who choose to move off-campus must register for Off-Campus Housing through the online form available on the Housing & Dining self-service page. This process collects basic information about where you will be living which helps the University to meet the Missing Student Notification requirements of the Clery Act. Please submit the form regardless of where you will be living!

All undergraduate students are required to live on-campus for 4 semesters. All sophomores are required to live on-campus unless participating in a study abroad program. Your personal THD account will indicate whether you are permitted to live off-campus by displaying the off-campus application option if you meet the necessary criteria. Students wishing to be released from the residency requirement before they have completed 4 semesters on campus will need to submit a Housing Appeal. Please email our office (ResLife@clarku.edu) if you’d like to learn more about Housing Appeals or visit our Housing Appeals webpage.

Clark University students can view floor plans for all of our Halls and Houses by clicking here.

Please note because of the nearly endless variety of room sizes in each building, we cannot provide specific or even general room dimensions.

Lastly, we want to remind returning students that any exclusively first-year halls will not be available during the housing selection process.

Clark students are able to select from anywhere (with a stable internet connection). This live process allows students the ability to search and see what is available at that exact moment, find a roommate, and make roommate groups for the upcoming year all with a few clicks. One of the advantages to using this system is that students are able to select their own assignments and know where they will be living as soon as they select and confirmation is provided at the completion of the process

Current first-year, sophomore, and junior students will apply to enter the housing lottery. After applying, students will receive their lottery number which indicates the date and time that they will be able to begin the process of choosing their housing for the 2024-2025 school year. The assignment of lottery number is based on a student’s class year, and those within the same class year will be randomly assigned a number.

All current students interested in selecting an apartment or suite for the 2024–2025 academic year, must fill the space upon room selection. Only apartments and suites matching your selected number of roommates will be visible to you upon Housing Selection. Students will be able to select their roommates on the Housing & Dining Self-Service Portal.

Our residence halls have a limited number of available traditional singles on campus. We encourage all students to explore roommate options prior to the start of Housing Selection.

Students who are in need of accommodations in their on-campus housing need to apply through the Office of Student Accessibility Services. SAS will inform RLH of all approved accommodations and RLH will assign students accordingly.

  • The priority deadline to apply for Housing Accommodations for next year is Tuesday, February 6. Click here to access the form.
  • Any accommodations that are approved after Tuesday, February 6 will be accommodated to the best of our ability, but are not guaranteed. However, we will always do our best to meet any student’s accommodations through SAS. If you have any questions, please contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS).
  • We will contact any students who have approved accommodation after the 27th to explain the placement process. Students going through the SAS placement process should still fill out a Housing Application.

Please note, the 2024-2025 housing and dining fees are still being finalized. We expect to update the fees prior to housing selection.

Blackstone Single Spaces $10,550* *

* Meal Plan price reflects one of the “full meal plans”.  Students in apartment-style housing can add optional meal plans but are not required to enroll.

Some Important Things to Note:

  • Students living in “Traditional Lifestyle” or “Suite Lifestyle” housing are required to be on a full meal plan.  Students who live in “Apartment Lifestyle” housing (where they have access to kitchen facilities shared only by a small population of students) may choose from any undergraduate meal plan or choose to not have any version of a meal plan.
  • Students who change from “Traditional Lifestyle” or “Suite Lifestyle” housing to “Apartment Style” after the first four weeks of the semester will be required to keep their full meal plan for the remainder of the semester.
  • Students are required to live on campus for four semesters.  Students who reach junior status or complete their four semester requirement mid-year remain bound to the contract as it is a full-year agreement.

Each student who selects that they would like on-campus housing for the 2024-2025 academic year must pick a bed space during selection. If you do not pick a Housing Assignment and have not yet met your residency requirement, RLH will assign you a space.

We understand that there are only so many bed spaces in each building and that students are not always able to select the spaces that they want during selection. Knowing this, we will allow students to request a room change over the summer. Students will be placed on a waiting list for the buildings that they want to live in. If spaces open up over the summer, RLH will contact these students regarding their room change request. To help create equity in the process students will be offered room changes, based on vacancies in reverse lottery number order, by class. The form for summer room changes will be open mid-July on your Housing & Dining Self Service portal.

  • Students who select a room and then elect to live off campus will be charged a $1,500 contract cancellation fee.
  • Students who receive a Lottery Number but who do not select a room at all, and are eligible to live off campus, will be charged a $100 contract cancellation fee.
  • Current undergraduate students participating in a 5th year or graduate study program can participate in the graduate housing selection. Graduate Housing Applications will be available on April 1, 2024.
