IDCE Student Association (SA)
"By the students, for the students"
IDCE’s SA is represented by officers Desiree Hoskins (ES&P/MA ’09), Jenna Mosely (IDSC/MA ’09), and Laya Zayer (IDSC/MA ’09).

The IDCE Student Association (SA) is a student-run organization that is committed to addressing the entire IDCE graduate student body’s concerns and issues. The SA is dedicated to student achievement through participation within the IDCE community and improving communication between students and administration. The organization holds regular meetings which are open to the entire IDCE community. In addition to these meetings, the SA is involved in planning social activities and events relevant to each of IDCE’s four programs. The organization presents opportunities for not only bringing students, staff and faculty together but also linking GISDE, CDP, ES&P and IDSC together in order to maximize the multidisciplinary learning environment.
There are many subcommittees for the SA that are doing great work for the IDCE community.
For example:
IDCE’s Student Association Sustainability Committee consists of a group of graduate students that are working to increase environmental sustainability at IDCE through awareness of resource conservation. Its mission is to encourage environmental sustainability among faculty, staff and students by providing useful, everyday tips to reduce waste. In the past year, they have created signage that reminds students to turn off lights and computer monitors when not in use and to reduce paper waste by printing on both sides. So far, the committee also has succeeded in increasing the use of reusable dishware in the IDCE kitchen. The committee offered a Brown Bag presentation in order to promote awareness about the committee to the department and to facilitate discussion on the successes and challenges of being environmentally sustainable in everyday life. Next the committee will work on a joint venture between IDCE and the Graduate School of Management to host an environmentally sustainable welcome reception.
