Ana Monteiro (ES&P ‘07)

Ana Monteiro (ES&P ‘07) now works in Cape Verde with InfraCo, an infrastructure development company that promotes socially responsible projects, primarily in Africa.

Building upon her ES&P final M.A. project that focused on renewable energy in Africa, Ana is currently involved in multiple aspects of a public-private partnership project with InfraCo and the Cape Verde government.

The Cabéolica Wind Project is developing four wind farms on four different islands in order to diversify the energy matrix of the country and make Cape Verde one of the leading African countries in terms of wind energy capacity.

In her role as a junior developer, Ana is involved in multiple aspects of the project including technical, political, legal, and financial. She says,

It is very interesting to visualize the implications of such a project through the lens of these different standpoints and of different stakeholders.

The perspectives and skills that Ana gained from IDCE have prepared her for this type of integrated environmental work with multiple stakeholders working toward advancing sustainable technologies.
