2. What do you find satisfying about your position?

I believe that the work we do is important - particularly the outreach to civil society. That we can make an impact in the quality of life of communities and ensure a cleaner environment by helping people learn how to manage their environment and resources better. On a policy level, I feel that the advocacy work we do can help create better regulations and bring pollution and waste management issues to the fore.

3. How did the ES&P program at Clark University help to prepare you?

The ES&P program introduced me to policy issues related to pollution and waste management. While taking the course, I came to understand that pollution was not a problem for "industrialized" countries only but that it is a serious problem in developing nations, more so because they often lack regulations on pollution and waste management, or have poor enforcement of existing regulations.

4. Why should prospective students enroll in the ES&P program at Clark University?

The ES&P program at Clark University equips students with a program that is flexible enough to allow them to explore their areas of interest, while benefiting from exposure to a number of interesting fields of specialization. The international flavor of the program creates an invigorating backdrop to ones studies and there is often the feeling that there is so much to explore and discover academically and culturally.

5. What was the topic of your research while at Clark University?

Natural resources in Southern Sudan.

6. Is there anything else you would like to add?

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Clark (after an initially difficult adjustment period). The friendships I formed then are still strong and I have crossed paths with several of my colleagues at Clark and other alumni in the course of my work or travels since I left.
