COURSE WAIVERS & PREREQUISITES
Waivers (MBA Only)
Waivers may be granted for certain core MBA courses if you have completed
a similar course with a grade of B- or higher in the last 6 years. Waivers can reduce the
number of courses you must take to obtain the MBA degree. Your transcripts
are evaluated for waivers by the Admissions Review Committee as part of the
application process. The
following MBA courses may be waived:
- Business Law (The completed course must have been taken in the United
States.)
- Financial Management
- Foundations of Accounting (At least two accounting courses must have
been taken in order to waive this MBA course. The courses must have been
completed in the United States.)
- Management Economics (At least one course in microeconomics and one
course in macroeconomics must have been taken to waive this course.)
- Management Information Systems
- Marketing Management
- Operations Management
- Statistical Methods
One or more of the above courses may be waived by receiving
a Pass grade on an exam in the respective subject area. You are eligible to take
a waiver exam if you have completed at least one course in the subject. Waiver
exams are administered during Orientation Week, and details about the exams will
be sent to you prior to Orientation.
Prerequisites (MSF Only)
The Master of Science in Finance degree program requires that applicants meet
four prerequisites prior to applying to the program, including previous
coursework in: Economic Theory, Financial Accounting and Statistics. Upon evaluation of the
application, the finance faculty will determine if the prerequisites have been
adequately fulfilled.
Applicants may be accepted to the MSF program even if they have not fulfilled
all of the prerequisites. In this case, the student will be required to take
courses at the beginning of the academic program, which fulfills the basic
prerequisites. Clark GSOM offers these courses on a regular basis throughout the
academic year.
(There are no prerequisites for the MBA program, although prior coursework in
quantitative methods is highly recommended.)
