Rowan Compton

Rowan is a Master’s student studying Geographic Information Science at Clark University. As a CGA Research Assistant, he examines temporal dynamics of pond aquaculture in the tropics as part of a long-term project in collaboration with Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. Rowan has also worked as a Research Assistant on various other research projects within Clark’s Graduate School of Geography, including a NASA funded project focusing on predicting irrigation expansion in central Brazil. He has used his GIS skills to examine nature-society relations for several years and is excited to bring these skills to bear for the Clark CGA.

Beyond pond aquaculture he is also interested in digitally enforced environmental regulation, large-scale agricultural expansion, and the cultural geography of smallholder communities.
