The dean of research and graduate studies works closely with faculty to promote and encourage research, secure funding, and build outside partnerships. Clark’s faculty and students engage in research that significantly benefits communities, environments, and the world.

The dean has broad responsibility to promote research opportunities for faculty and students, and to oversee eight doctoral programs as well as the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and Master of Arts in English programs. In collaboration with the university’s Research Board, Graduate Board, and the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, the dean implements policies and procedures for external grants, contracts, and fellowship applications, as well as the work of the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Ph.D. Programs

Clark University offers Ph.D. programs in eight fields: its nationally top-ranked geography Ph.D., its distinguished psychology Ph.D. (clinical, developmental and social), its unique history Ph.D. in Holocaust and genocide studies, economics, and four STEM disciplines (biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry, and physics).
