Upon successful completion of the Data Science major, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply mathematical and statistical foundations to model uncertainty, analyze data, and support data-driven inferences and decisions.
  • Design and implement computational solutions for data management, processing, and analysis by leveraging core principles of computer science and programming.
  • Utilize and evaluate machine learning and deep learning techniques to extract insights from complex, real-world datasets and solve predictive modeling problems.
  • Formulate and address data-driven questions by integrating data science methodologies with foundational knowledge from a specialized domain (e.g., Biology, Economics, Geography).
  • Communicate data-driven findings effectively to diverse audiences through clear visualizations, persuasive narratives, and technical reports.
  • Articulate the ethical and societal implications of data collection, algorithms, and analytical results, recognizing their impact on equity, policy, and practice.
