This summer, Doménica Dillon ’22 is a Production Assistant Intern for the Hanover Theater’s outdoor production of Julius Caesar. With the help of her @clarkalumni mentor, Sasha Abby VanDerzee, and a ClarkCONNECT Summer Internship Award, Doménica is combining her passion for non-profit theater, interest in stage management, and future professional goals at the Hanover this summer. “The opportunity to work on a professional show felt like the right next step,” she says of her decision to pursue this internship.
As part of her internship, Doménica is working with the theater’s stage management team and helps with the setup/breakdown up of rehearsals as well as with special tasks like blocking and note taking. Since the production is outdoors, one unexpected challenge this summer has been Worcester’s rainy weather. But the crew is making it work. “It’s been so impressive to see folks who love their art and have careers in theatre creating something magical outdoors!” says Doménica.
And how did she land this internship? Through networking! Doménica knew she wanted to be part of Worcester’s theater scene and reached out to someone at the Jean McDonough Arts Center (JMAC). Her connection turned out to be the director of the Hanover’s summer production and, after some conversation, offered Doménica the summer PA position!
🏛🕊You can catch Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar on the Worcester Common for free between August 4 – 22!
