poster coverJoin us for a panel series on “Predatory Extractivism: Brazil’s largest mining catastrophes in a global context” on April 11 & 12, 2024.

In this series, we will explore Brazil’s major environmental and humanitarian crises, particularly the Samarco and Vale dam collapses in Minas Ceais, and their lasting effects on local communities;

Learn about the causes of these foretold catastrophes, their ongoing impacts on local communities, and the long road for reparations. Cases from other countries dealing with the harms of predatory extractivism will provide a wider view of a global issue, beyond Brazil.

Panels will be held in Portuguese and English with simultaneous interpretation to both languages.
