Erica J. Penn ’84 and Kevin S. Penn Establish Penn Family Scholarship Fund

Dear Faculty, Students, and Staff,

I am very pleased to share with you the exciting news that Clark University Trustee Erica Penn ’84 and her husband, Kevin, have made a generous gift to the University that will enhance our ability to support Clark students in science and technology fields of study.

The newly established Penn Family Scholarship Fund was begun with a $750,000 gift from Erica and Kevin that will provide financial assistance to students in the sciences, with a preference for supporting female undergraduate and graduate students.

Erica was a biology major at Clark, and she recognizes the excellence of Clark’s science offerings and the importance of ensuring that more young women are empowered to take advantage of them. Erica and Kevin’s gift will add momentum to Clark students who are pursuing science- and technology-centered careers.

The Fund will provide undergraduate scholarships — including the costs of tuition, room, board, and/or fees — and also support undergraduate summer research fellowships. Graduate students can also apply for fellowships, which would include tuition offsets and stipends for research or teaching assistantships.

As women continue to achieve major advances in the areas of science and technology, the establishment of the Penn Family Scholarship Fund could not be more essential or timelier.

I know you join me in expressing our deepest gratitude to Erica and Kevin for this wonderful and inspirational gift.

Sincerely,

David B. Fithian ’87
President
