Commencement 2021 Update

To the Clark Community,

We write today to share further details about Commencement 2021 that we hope will help our students and families formalize plans for observing this milestone occasion.

As you know, Clark University’s in-person Commencement ceremonies will be held on June 12 for students receiving graduate degrees and on June 13 for students receiving undergraduate degrees. What we can share with you now is that we have determined a location for the ceremonies: Both will take place, rain or shine, at Clark’s Granger Field by the Dolan Field House on Beaver Street, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the designated date.

For each ceremony, each graduating student will be allowed two guests, and all guests will be required to have a ticket for entry. This is essential for adhering to the State of Massachusetts’ COVID-19 guidelines, as it accommodates the maximum number of people on the field while maintaining proper distance. We are finalizing the process for securing tickets and expect to provide an online link by the end of May.

We certainly understand the desire to have more friends and family members present to share our students’ tremendous accomplishments, and we have not come to this decision lightly. But as COVID-19 continues to exert itself, our foremost priority is protecting the health and safety of our students, their guests, and our Main South neighbors both during the ceremony and as the participants enter and exit the facility. This can only be achieved by limiting the number of attendees.

Despite this departure from our usual practice, we anticipate a memorable event for our students and their families. We will be writing you in the coming weeks to share more details about the Commencement ceremonies (including our 2021 honorary degree recipients), as well as how to order tickets. In the meantime, you can also visit our special Commencement website for updates.

Sincerely,
