These resources cover important topics like health and wellness, cultural adjustment, and available academic and social support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Staying well abroad<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International health insurance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to domestic coverage, all students must be enrolled in international health insurance while abroad. Clark Study Abroad partners with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.geobluetravelinsurance.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GeoBlue Travel Insurance<\/a>&nbsp;for any student not already covered by a program plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should also familiarize yourself with the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.clarku.edu\/offices\/campussafety\/international-travel.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clark University Risk Management resources<\/a>, including the Clark University International Travel Policy, emergency procedures and health insurance policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group boxout has-light-warm-gray-background-color has-background is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Immunization requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To find out more about country-specific vaccination recommendations and health data, visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC website<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends vaccinations for host countries of many Clark study abroad programs. Your host institution\u2019s handbook will provide health recommendations\/requirements information prior to departure.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mental health resources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While studying abroad provides participants with meaningful opportunities to get out of their comfort zone and gain a new world view, you may feel challenged in ways that you didn\u2019t expect.\u00a0CPG will still be able to assist you, even while while abroad. You will also have access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/offices\/counseling\/services\/uwill\/\">UWill<\/a>, a service that provides telephone mental health support by professional therapists when CPG is not open. UWill is available to students 24\/7, regardless of students&#8217; physical location, offering mental health support and virtual counseling. Discuss how you and your family will address any emergencies. Your plan should include how to get in contact, methods of communication to use, and how to use them depending on the time of day or week. Make a small card with your emergency contact information to carry in your wallet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We encourage all students to practice strong <strong>digital hygiene<\/strong> while abroad. This includes using secure passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and being cautious when accessing personal accounts on public or shared networks. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We recommend you and your family each keeps a back-up file of <strong>critical information<\/strong> while away. This includes: contact information, contact information for the U.S. embassy or consulate closest to the program, insurance policy information, copies of your passport, flight information, medical history (immunizations, prescription medications), and copies of credit card numbers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keep everyone informed<\/strong>. Make sure the program, foreign university international student office, host family and your family back home are aware of any independent travel plans and expected return date. Consider providing your program, family members, and host family with an itinerary and emergency contact information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Orientation<\/strong>. Be sure to attend on-site orientation programs run by your program or foreign university. These sessions provide up-to-date, region specific information regarding health and safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Make contact<\/strong>. Contact the program provider or host university directly to get up-to-date emergency and safety plans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smart Traveler Enrollment Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Clark University recommends that you&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/step.state.gov\/step\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program<\/a>&nbsp;(STEP) on the U.S. State Department website, where you will find additional useful information for traveling abroad.
