This system helps ensure that students with disabilities receive reasonable accommodations and services. Students need to submit documentation regarding the diagnosis\/diagnoses that demonstrates a disability covered under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 as amended (2008).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please review our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/offices\/student-accessibility-services\/services-and-accommodations\/documentation-guidelines\/\">Documentation Guidelines<\/a>&nbsp;for additional information. All documentation is kept confidential<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Additional forms of documentation may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A letter from a qualified medical professional<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psychological evaluation(s)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Psychoeducational evaluation(s) with standardized test scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A physician\u2019s medical records, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step three<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Schedule an intake<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-heading-font-family\">Once the&nbsp;Application for Accommodations<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>has been submitted online, you will be notified by email to schedule an intake to discuss accommodations, procedures, and services. The intake will typically last about 30 minutes where we will discuss your lived experiences with disability and how they may impact you academically and\/or in your residential life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"arrow\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/clarku-accommodate.symplicity.com\/public_accommodation\/\">Download Application for Accommodations<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step four<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Log in to Accommodate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-heading-font-family\">After the intake, students will receive a Student Registration Notice regarding their accommodation requests and registration status. This letter will also contain steps on how to request your accommodations through Accommodate. Once registered, students log in to Accommodate to submit semester requests to send accommodation letters to instructors each semester. Students must communicate with each instructor to discuss the arrangements for receiving accommodations. In addition, accommodations are not retroactive, and instructors do not have to provide accommodations to students if they have not been informed of the need for accommodations by SAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"arrow\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/clarku-accommodate.symplicity.com\/\">Log in to Accommodate<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group section is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Returning students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a returning student to Clark who has registered with SAS previously, you will now be using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/offices\/student-accessibility-services\/accommodations\/\">Accommodate<\/a> to manage your accommodations. <strong>Each semester<\/strong> you will submit as Semester Request so that SAS can send your Accommodation Letters to your professors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can submit a semester request at any time prior to the start of the semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAS will send out your accommodation letters a few days prior to the start of the semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you add a course(s) after you submit a semester request, you will need to submit an additional semester request for the new course(s).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/How-to-Use-Accommodate-1-2.pdf\"><strong>How to Submit Semester Request in Accommodate Visual Guide<\/strong><\/a> provides you guidance to the steps listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-clarku-block-tabs clarku__tabs_f961e934\"><ul class=\"clarku__tab-labels\" role=\"tablist\" aria-label=\"tabbed content\"><li id=\"\" class=\"clarku__tab-label active\" role=\"tab\"><strong>Step one<\/strong><\/li><li id=\"\" class=\"clarku__tab-label\" role=\"tab\"><strong>Step two<\/strong><\/li><li id=\"\" class=\"clarku__tab-label\" role=\"tab\"><strong>Step three<\/strong><\/li><li id=\"\" class=\"clarku__tab-label\" role=\"tab\"><strong>Step four<\/strong><\/li><li id=\"\" class=\"clarku__tab-label\" role=\"tab\"><strong>Step five<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"clarku__tab-content\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step one<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p class=\"arrow\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/clarku-accommodate.symplicity.com\/\">Accommodate portal<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have logged into Accommodate, you will select \u201cAccommodation\u201d on the left side of the screen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step two<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p><strong>Select \u201cSemester Request\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the left side of the screen, select \u201cSemester Request\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step three<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p><strong>Select \u201cAdd New\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have selected \u201cadd new\u201d, select the correct semester from the drop down menu.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step four<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p><strong>Select \u201cReview the Renewal\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select \u201cReview the Renewal\u201d to select accommodations by course OR select \u201cSubmit for All Accommodations\u201d to add all accommodations for all courses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Step five<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p><strong>Email notification<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will receive a notification email stating your semester requests have been received.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group section is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips for talking with your professors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns equal-height is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group boxout has-light-yellow-background-color has-background is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>Set up a meeting with professor to talk about your accommodation letter. Doing it in this way helps to remind the professor that this information is confidential and not to be shared with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Email your professor to set up an appointment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask you professor after class to arrange a meeting time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit the professor during office hours (hours are usually posted in the syllabus).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group boxout has-light-yellow-background-color has-background is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>At the meeting, refer specifically to your accommodations as identified in your Accommodation Letter the professor would have received via email. Your letter will not identify your specific disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You do not have to share specific disability information. You may just want to share that you are a student with a disability and what your accommodation needs are. Use clear communication skills to discuss your needs with your professor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns equal-height is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group boxout has-light-yellow-background-color has-background is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>If you decide to share specific disability information, be sure to use brief, positive everyday language that focuses on your strengths and abilities and effective accommodations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be prepared when you talk with your professors; have an idea of what you want to talk about with them.
